As Canadians continue to abide by physical-distancing guidelines and staying at home amid the COVID-19 pandemic, they have become increasingly dependent on food and grocery delivery services, along with shopping online.
To highlight this dependence, the following findings from Metrica showcase the growth in adoption of UberEATS, Instacart, and Amazon over the past few months.

Visits to UberEATS App
In this time of social isolation, food delivery apps such as UberEATS have seen increased adoption. From December 2019 to March 2020, the UberEATS app has seen a 300% increase in panelist visitation.
Visits to Instacart App
The dramatic growth in use of prepared food delivery apps (e.g. UberEATS) is also reflected in grocery delivery apps such as Instacart. For the same time period, December 2019 to March 2020, the Instacart app has seen a 320% increase in panelist visitation.
Amazon: Average Monthly Visits & Spending Per Panelist
The impact of COVID-19 has resulted in more consumers shopping online. March 2020 saw panelist visits to, and spending on, Amazon nearly at the level of December the previous year; December being a peak period for online shopping due to Christmas and Boxing Week.
